Chiang Rai Province climate

The climate in the north is more pleasant for Europeans than in the center and the south due to the pronounced seasonality of Thailand. Three seasons characterize the weather in Chiang Rai. The pleasantly cool months from October to February are followed by the two hot months of May and June. In the subsequent rainy season from July to September, August is the month with the most precipitation and an average of only 5 hours of sunshine a day.  In the cool months, the temperature in January can drop to 10°C at night. But don't worry, during the day temperatures rise again to an average of 27°C.

Thanks to the good climate, self-sufficiency with food is not a problem. Vegetables can be grown all year round.

Supply food & doctors

In our facilities, generous areas are reserved for vegetable beds. The cultivation can then be produced under your own supervision in organic quality. Also in Chiang Rai Organic farming is promoted and further promoted by the government. Farmers sell fruits and vegetables at the market in Chiang Rai or in direct sales on your farm.

In the big cities of Thailand, especially in Bangkok, medical care is very good. In the large hospitals there are doctors who speak English and sometimes even German. In Chiang Rai there are two private clinics that Kasemrad Sriburin Hospital, with all medical services at very moderate prices and that Overbrook Hospital, which offers medical treatments with international standards.

Chiang Rai Province Hospitals

About 100 years ago this was done by the Christian missionary, Dr. Founded by William A. Briggs. Both hospitals have emergency and surgical departments, modern medical equipment and multilingual staff.

Public hospitals: In addition to these two private clinics, there is also the large state hospital Chiangrai Prachanukroh Hospital with over 750 beds, as well as many local neighbor-hood clinics.

English-speaking staff is rather rare here. Treatments in the public hospitals and clinics are much cheaper than in the private hospitals, but you should be able to speak some Thai or bring someone with you to interpret.

Tourism & Living

If there are doubts about the competence of the two private clinics, there is still the option of switching to Chiang Mai.

Across from Chaing Mai, which last had 11 million visitors in 2019, 60% of whom were foreign tourists, were found across the province Chiang Rai only 3.8 million visitors, including 640,000 foreign visitors. Chiang Rai is not overrun by foreign tourists, which may be one reason why the cost of living in Chiang Rai with among the cheapest in all Thailand belong. There is at the German Bakery crispy rolls for only 10 bath, the equivalent of 27 cents.
